Diary of a Yoga retreat - Day 9 - thoughts

Diary of a Yoga retreat - Day 9 - thoughts
As we begin the first salutation I lift my heart and I raise it to the sky. Beautiful feeling. We proceed through Suryanamaskara A and when I hit Arhdo Mukha Svasana (downward facing dog) my gaze is swept out into the view before me. I have stated many times on this journey how amazing that is. Today it has been raining. There are little tiny beaded droplets of water on each and every blade of grass and the rice growing. Teeny little beads of water, shining natures gifts towards us. If you take the time to look it is there.

The sun begins to burn through the clouds and those little beads of water glisten in the sunlight, shining their light at anyone that cares to look. Today I remember to look. So many times I rush through the day, next thing, the next thing, what do I have to do next. Today, this morning, right now, I stop and I look where I am. I am present in this moment and I see the droplets of water and I breathe. Magic is everywhere.

The sun continues to burn through the clouds, warming my ankles as it reaches into the shala, those droplets stay there. It will take them far longer than I to heat up.

Yoga is teaching and reminding me to be present and attentive in each moment during every day. Do not let the days slip by without looking and acknowledging the very fortunate place you find yourself in.

Yoga is teaching us to be aware.
