Universal connection through a yoga practice

Universal connection through a yoga practice

It has been my pleasure and observation that the yoga practice that I now hold so dear has been a source of connection for myself and my other practicing yogi friends. It has proven itself to me repeatedly over the last few years and never ceases to be a source of pleasure and joy.

My yoga practice is something very sacred and fantastic to me. I hold it close to my heart and although at times I am light and fun in the yoga room, the actual practice of yoga and where I place it in my life is very high and as I have just said, sacred.

It is this feeling that connects me to all of my yogi colleagues and delivers to all of us a profound sense of wellbeing and indeed, connectedness. I am living in Australia but have met and grown to love many yogis from many places. Sweden, Japan, Brazil, America, New Zealand, Portugal, Germany and England. All of these people are living quite different lives to me over here in small town Australia. I am living in a beach town growing my small children, practicing each morning and thanking the planet for the divine life I find myself in. My friends overseas are living very different existences.

One thing we all have in common is our love of our yoga practice. I was just thinking of my friend in San Fransisco and they sent me a message. Wonderful. My friend in Sweden just got married and we connected on a deeper level than just an email, although we did do that as well.

Having experienced a deep and wonderful yoga practice beside someone for even a short amount of time can provide a deep and lasting connection. Practicing beside someone it is very difficult to not show your true self. Show them your heart and it is hard to forget you. Fumble your way past inner difficulties and compassion grows within those on either side of you. In fact, show your true nature to anyone and it is hard to resist.

Practicing yoga on a deep and sincere level is a very unusual and wonderful experience. I have had the pleasure to experience this with many people and take this experience as something to treasure and love. This place of being is not so easy to find in every day life. My yoga friends repeatedly show me their souls and I am enchanted by this. I try and do the same to them.

After experiencing a connection such as this it is not always necessary to write to each other to stay in touch. I need only begin my pranayama breathing exercises with my friend in mind and they will be with me for the duration of that practice. They sit with me, beside me, around me. We breath together and feel as one. Are we not actually all the same energy, coming together and separating as we feel. Yes, I believe that.

Yoga has the power to open our hearts and clear our minds. Let it unite all of us in the quest for goodness and the search for a troublefree existence. I feel it is possible and infinitely doable.

Yoga is a tool for uplifting lives, connecting all of us, bringing lifes pleasures that little bit closer and allowing all of us to connect with a live our true essence. Delicious.
