Yoga in Daily Life
Yoga does not have to be all about head stands and poses that make you look like a human pretzel. You can fit yoga in your daily life. You can fit yoga and its principles into life a little bit at a time. This will help you make improvements to your mind, body and spirit.
Most people believe that you already have to be flexible to do yoga. The truth is that there are yoga poses that will gently help you stretch your muscles. Keep in mind though; you should never do more than you are capable of.
When you are doing the stretching poses and you start to feel a slight stretch in your muscles, stop and hold the pose at that point for a few seconds. Yoga can make you more flexible with just a little practice everyday. Also, if you have difficulty getting down on the floor there are chair yoga poses.
Since our bodies are designed for movement it is a good idea to move them a little everyday. Yoga can warm up the body for more strenuous activities as well. This yoga warm up will prevent injuries.
Stress finds its way into our daily lives and yoga is an excellent stress reliever. It can calm your mind and your nerves. Yoga can even lower blood pressure and alleviate the symptoms of anxiety and panic attacks. Yoga will also soothe headaches and help people sleep better at night.
If you want to work yoga into daily life, consider doing poses before you even get out of bed. Poses that require you to be on your back can be done this way. Then when you first get out of bed you can do some standing poses. Morning, before your day begins, is the best time of day to practice yoga.
You should invest in a good DVD or book about yoga poses and decide which ones you are comfortable trying. Incorporate the poses that make you feel the best each and everyday. This is a good way to increase flexibility, improve your health and fight stress. With a little dedication, yoga can be incorporated into daily life.
